Mask Adherence Study – Round 2

DIF conducted another round (R2) of mask adherence study in 5 cities- Jammu, Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai post the third wave to understand how mask adherence behaviour changes during and after a Covid-19 wave. The study spanned over a period of 17 days from 1st March to 21st March 2022.

Sample size: 4292 samples were collected from the 5 cities and a subset of 798 interviews

Mumbai has the highest level of mask adherence at 68.6%, followed by Delhi at 62.8%, Hyderabad at 52.72%. The mask adherence in Jammu and Kolkata is at lower levels, i.e. 39.4% and 38.09% respectively. It was analysed that the mask adherence post the third wave has reduced in all the cities. 

DIF conducted a mask adherence survey across 11 cities in its first round of study to assess mask adherence by gender, age group, type and public places. The data revealed that in most of these cities the mask adherence was not at the optimum level. Click here to read and download the report.

DIF conducted another survey in 4 metro cities- Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai to assess mask adherence level in these cities amid Omicron led 3rd wave in the country. The data has been collected across different age groups in public places and the type of mask worn by the subject. The report of the Mask Study – 1.5 can be accessed here.

Finally, the Digital India Foundation conducted the Mask Adherence Study- Round 2 in 5 cities to gain a comprehensive overview of mask adherence over different time periods.
